Rogue has the C-70 which is 69″ and built like an Ohio Bar, but I don’t know of any others from the reputable barbell companies. The majority of shorter bars (5 and 6 foot) are made by the cheapo companies like CAP, Body Solid, and the other importers. These are not particularly good brands, but if you don’t want like the C-70 for some reason, that’s pretty much what you’re left with. I don’t venture into the super cheap stuff, so I can’t say that I’ve ever tried to side-by-side compare the various imported shorty bars, sorry.

In the three months since I started using Rehband knee sleeves, I’ve noticed a marked improvement in how my knees feel both in and out of the gym. While they certainly don’t help me to lift more weight in a direct sense, having that little bit of extra support is reassuring and allows me to be less hesitant when performing lifts like the jerk. While £40 for a pair of supports is relatively steep, the sleeves seem durable and it’s clear that I will get my money’s worth from them. While there are other support options in the form of knee wraps or bandages, the convenience of just being able to pull on the Rehbands and forget about them rather than having to wrap and unwrap my knees between sets makes them a sound investment in my mind.

Dave Turner’s Hercules Barbell Club beginners use a simple program for learning and developing the rudiments of strength. Three days a week, the team members go through a ten minute warm up of shoulder “dislocates” with broomsticks, overhead squats with broomsticks, followed by front squats, then a “cardio-like” few minutes of snatches and clean and jerks with the broomsticks. So after slipping a disc in my back I was out of lifting for a few years and have been progressing from being only able to deadlift like 135lbs. My back squat is probably back up to around 315lbs, my front squat 265lbs, clean 215lbs, snatch 185lbs, and deadlift 385lbs. I spent much time building my back squat back up which helped my snatch but didn’t really do much for my front squat and consequently didn’t do much for my clean. I am planning on doing a high volume front squat program to really that up but I am worried that it won’t go up since it is already about 85% of my back squat. So do I need to focus on back squatting first? This stuff gets kind of confusing. Thanks

I don't think docs can clean you up - what they do in other countries is test their athletes internally prior to international competitions and, if they believe an athlete might fail at the meet, they don't let them go. That's why Klokov/Akkaev not going to the Olympics was so suspicious. Are there substances that can make it appear like your testosterone levels are lower or that can remove traces of substances or their metabolites from your system? The best I know of is to try and use drugs that disappear quickly (like cyclists use EPO) or are somehow different than what is currently tested, but weightlifters are still stuck using dianabol/winstrol/testosterone/HGH, which leave their mark.
